The two views presented here are of M88A2's serving with the 1/12 Cavalry Regiment of the 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood, Texas, during March 2001. The vehicles are engaged in the temporary removal of power packs from M1A2 Abrams MBT while they undergo cleaning. The Unit was preparing their M1A2 Abrams for turning in to a vehicle depot prior to being re-equipped with the latest version of the M1A2.
Of interest is the paint colour of the vehicles: the majority of equipment of the 1st Cavalry Division and the 4th Mechanised Infantry Division (also based at Fort Hood Texas) is finished in desert yellow with black tactical markings.
