На китайских "Пантерах" SA 565, по известным данным, стоит не РЛС Varan, а РЛС Agrion из того же "игуаньего" семейства. На морских же Z-9C собственного производства устанавливается китайская РЛС KLC-1, которую обычно именуют "клоном" Agrion, хотя по известными данным он работает в более узком диапазоне.

Agrion maritime surveillance radar
Type
I/J-band (8 to 20 GHz) maritime surveillance radar.
Description
Agrion is a member of the Iguane family of maritime radar systems and exists in several versions. It is designed primarily for use aboard helicopters or light aircraft forming a part of task forces, employed for support at sea or for coastal protection. Several types of antenna are available to meet the requirements of various aircraft. The Agrion 15 version allows the guidance of the AS 15TT Aerospatiale air-to-surface missile which has, inter alia, demonstrated its efficiency against fast patrol boats. Agrion operates in the I/J-band, using pulse compression and frequency agility to ensure high performance on maritime targets in all combinations of weather, sea state and operating altitude. These same techniques also provide maximum protection against electronic countermeasures. The system provides operational missions such as surface and anti-submarine warfare, over-the-horizon targeting for shipborne surface-to-surface missiles, search and rescue, marine environmental protection, navigation and weather avoidance.
Status
As of 2005, Jane's sources were reporting Agrion 15 as having been installed aboard the Royal Saudi Navy's fleet of Eurocopter AS 565SA Panther anti-submarine/anti-surface ship warfare helicopters and (possibly) in the Z-9C helicopters operated by the People's Republic of China's Naval Air Force. In this latter application, any Agrion 15s used were thought likely to be of the locally manufactured KLC-1 variant.

Description
Designed for helicopter applications, the X-band KLC-1 maritime surveillance radar is noted as being capable of both surface search and over-the-horizon targeting. While not confirmed, Jane's sources suggest that KLC-1 may be a locally produced variant of the Thales Agrion 15 equipment.
Status
As of February 2003, KLC-1 was understood to have been available. No new information as of 2004.
