Re: Отзыв старшего наводчика об орудии, установленном на Лео 2А6(на английском)

Резюме: точность стрельбы выросла, вероятно из-за применения новых боеприпасов и нового термозащитного кожуха...

I've been working as a mastergunner with the Leopard2A6 since it's deployment with the troops in 2004. It's intentional design was to penetrate more armour at greater ranges than the Leopards equiped with the L44 could. Gun and ammunition design were based on penetrating tanks with advanced composite armour (in- or excluding ERA) at ranges exceeding 3000 meters. My experience is that the accuracy has improved over the L44 (obvious since it's supposed to fire at longer ranges) this became evident while determining "gun jump" or "system failure shooting" as 11E calls it with our tanks where they would shoot smaller groups than the L44. Also when having fired the gun several times or during combat shooting scenarios it doesn´t show the slightest hint in bending and muzzle reference corrections are smaller. The L55 hasn´t only become longer it´s thermal shrouds have also been redesigned and are made of different material than the glass-fiber ones on the L44. Another important fact in achieving accuracy with a tank gun isn't so much the gun itself but also the ammunition which attributes to that fact! The DM-53 designed for the L55 has the following specs:

Vo L55 1750m/s (30% increase)
vo L44 1670m/s (15% increase)

Deceleration 55m/s
Accuracy 0,2 Mill

I wouldn't doubt the accuracy standards set forth by the German firms involved in the development and production of the L55 since they have allways maintained the highest possible standards.
