Alan Mulally, president and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes said the new 787 will be available commercially in 2008. It will have its inaugural flight in 2007

Because it is lighter, the plane consumes 20 percent less fuel which translates to reduce operational costs for air liners.
Mulally said, "All future planes will be made out of composites because they don't fatigue and don't corrode."
Он же, следуя поговорке "ссы в глаза" не говорит о несущем корпусе и трансзвуке и расходе топлива "ок". Он же теперь говорит что все перейдут на композит.
He reveals Boeing plans to use 50 percent of composites materials in all of its future models. The plan would have significantly cost of constructing the planes as well as maintenance.
