Глупость всё это.

В той войне и у аргентинцев и у британцев продвинутое (и не очень) оружие отказывало сплошь и рядом. Например, эпизод на эсминце Глазго:

Hawkyard gave the order to fire his Sea Darts, but the microswitch on the launcher has become encrusted with sea salt and refused to work. He gave the order to his chief to override the computer. But then the computer failed to respond.

Hawkyard hit the "Launch" button anyway, muttering "Please work, please work". When it did not, "it was", Hawkyard remembered, "the biggest silence I ever heard in my life".

[...]

Then the second wave of bombers appeared in the sky. The main gun had by now jammed; the entire computer system on the Glasgow had crashed. Houddinot ordered his men on deck to man machine guns, rifles, anything to keep firing as the Argentines closed in. Their gunfire actually did cripple one Skyhawk but could not stop it from releasing its bombs. "In the Ops Room the feel their ship shudder and hear the WHHOOMMFF of the bomb as it crashes through the hull and travels clean out the other side." The lights went out, then flickered back on.

Miraculously, the bomb did not detonate; but it had cut two gaping holes through the Glasgow's hull, as the icy seawater rushed in.

Как видите, "закладки" были у обеих сторон.
