North Korean de facto head of state Kim Yong-Nam is due in Egypt on Thursday for a visit that will include talks with President Hosni Mubarak, the president's office said.
The Egyptian media had reported that North Korean overall leader Kim Jong-Il was to pay a visit but Mubarak's spokesman denied this.
"The name published is wrong, it is not Kim Jong-Il, it is Kim Jong-Nam," the spokesman told AFP.
The visiting Korean leader will discuss international affairs and bilateral relations with Mubarak, the official MENA news agency said, without providing futher details.
Egypt has historically had good relations with the hardline communist state which earlier this year agreed in principle to scrap its nuclear weapons programme.
