Hmm, you know IAR can also mean Infantry Assault Rifle. Seems like a good attempt to cut through the bureaucracy and politics. I can imagine seeing a squad where all of the M16s and M4s have been replaced by "IARs" while the automatic riflemen have are using some sort of modified SAW these were supposed to replace.
