А тот взял, да и записал в блокнотик неформальные высказывания за рюмочкой чая. Исландский вулкан, оказывается, поспособствовал скандалу - многие записи сделаны в июне, когда генерал застрял в Париже.
Интересно то, что МакКристал по-прежнему "дружит" с Карзаем, а администрация (и как раз те самые обруганные в статье Байден, Эйкенберри, Холбрук) - нет.

Most of the comments seem to have been uttered during unguarded moments, in places like bars and restaurants where the general and his aides gathered to unwind.
