'Rings' to be half-hour longer on DVD
By JAM! Movies
The already epic "The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship Of The Ring," will arrive on DVD with a half-hour of extra footage, according to director Peter Jackson.
Citing an interview Jackson gave to New Zealand's Evening Post, the scifi.com website reports that the DVD will include an extra half-hour of footage that Jackson had to snip from the 178-minute theatrical version of the film.
The new footage will include a Rivendell scene featuring New Zealand actor Ray Henwood as a man from Lake-town. But the new footage won't constitute a "director's cut" and won't include violent scenes Jackson was rumoured to have cut from the film.
"There is this thing on the [Internet] about all this gory stuff I was supposed to have shot, but I didn't," Jackson was quoted as saying. "We were going for a PG-13, and you can't waste time shooting stuff that you know is going to get cut".
No firm release date was mentioned for the DVD release, but Jackson said it would be timed to "tee everybody up" for the Christmas's release of the next instalment, "The Two Towers."
Jackson also revealed that the second film's pivotal action scene is the battle of Helm's Deep, which Jackson said would be very "bloody."
Also, the creepy character of Gollum will have a more substantial role, but "don't expect another Jar Jar Binks," Jackson said, referring to "Star Wars Episode I's" controversial computer-animated character.
The love story between Aargorn and Arwen (Viggo Mortensen and Liv Tyler) will also be developed, and Ian McKellen will be back as Gandalf, Jackson said.
Всего хорошего.
