Вот что немец ишет об этом (+)

Доброе время суток!
Типа "слово как слово, о его историческом употреблении помним, но другого не придумали"

What's funny, his fashionable balaklava? Title below his name merely says "Separatist Leader Donetsk" (yeah, despite a tendency to call tour and museum guides by the English term, no other German word has yet been invented for Führer in the political or military sense).
Admittedly, it makes for various hilarities even in German, given the historical strain and that it can mean all leader, guide, and conductor (of a vehicle). Confusingly, Zugführer can mean both platoon leader and train conductor, for example. My favorite example is the Führerschein, which means driver's license. Ironically, Hitler apparently never had one, which leads to the little ditty

Der Führer war ein armes Schwein,

er hatte keinen Führerschein.

(The Führer was a poor pig, he had no driver's license.)
