Ну надо же... пожар в системе защиты от ОМП. Что у них там за такая защита, что пожар в ней уничтожает танк с такой скоростью что экипаж не успевает выбраться, система ППО не спасает, и пожар настолько вероятен что у них там специальная система сигнализации именно о пожаре в ПАЗ/ПХЗ (которая вроде как как раз и не сработала)?! Че-то чем дальше тем интереснее. Не могу представить чтобы наш ГО-27 представлял аналогичную опасность!
A system malfunction sparked an M1A2 Abrams tank fire that killed a young crew member and injured others, who were exposed to further danger when an alarm failed to sound, according to an Army investigation.
. . . the failure occurred in the tanks nuclear, biological and chemical (NBC) main system, which sparked a fire. No sound alarm went off to warn the crew about the fire.
The alarm failure led the Army to examine other tanks and discovered several with the same problem.
When the fire occurred, the tank had just completed a run down range and was headed up to the rest area . . .
Three of the four crewmembers managed to evacuate the tank and were among those who tried to save Chavez (the deceased).
In case of an NBC fire, crews are supposed to turn off the NBC system by pressing a button on the Tank Commander’s integrated display; otherwise, continued use of the NBC main system will result in an NBC filter fire.
But, a sound alarm warning the crew about the fire did not go off because a cable connecting it to the driver’s control box had been improperly hooked up (according to the safety message). Much about the accident was not covered in the message.”
