Прикупил Harpoon Classic 97

"The Nimitz is the largest and most advanced class of aircraft carrier ever built. Designed as a multi-mission carrier, the Nimitz can accomplish just about any task that involves airpower at sea, such as attacking surface targets, hunting submarines, and supporting amphibious groups. It has good point defenses, including multi-barrel 20mm guns, Sea Sparrow missiles, and a large number of radars. It also has demonstrated the ability to sustain heavy punishment and continue to function. These ships cost about $500 million, not including its aircraft. In comparison, the Soviet Kiev class, their largest operational aviation ship, has less than half the displacement of the Nimitz and can only launch slow VTOL aircraft.

A Tarawa class ship is the largest amphibious vessel ever built. Due to its large size and huge flight decks, it can be easily mistaken for aircraft carriers. The Tarawa does have the ability to operate Harrier VTOL aircraft and Bronco ASW helicopters, however its primary function is to land troops and support equipment. These ships also have extensive medical facilities, including three operating rooms. But with poor point defenses, and no offensive capabilities, the Tarawa requires heavy screening from enemy attack. The original specification called for nine ships, but only five were completed. Each Tarawa costs about $230 million.

The "Tico" is the most powerful anti-aircraft ship in the US fleet. It was designed to defend carrier battle groups against aircraft and anti-ship missile threats. It also has excellent anti-submarine capabilities. The Tico's greatest asset, however, is its Aegis system, which completely integrates the ship's weapons and command systems. This Aegis system allows each Tico to automatically detect, track, classify, and engage multiple air targets. The Soviet's new Kirov class battle cruiser also has a multiple-target AAW system, but it is less effective than the Aegis. The only problem with the Ticonderoga is its $1 billion cost.

To avoid any political problems that could have arisen by calling these ships "aircraft carriers" the British Ministry of Defense pushed their order through Parliment by calling them "through-deck cruisers". With its unique (revolutionary, at the time) "ski jump" ramp, Invincible can launch the V/STOL Sea Harrier aircraft. It also carries helicopters, making it an excellent ASW platform. Invincible's point defenses were beefed up after the Falkland's conflict, but are still barely adequate. It cannot resist a concerted air attack, and its Harriers are unable to deal with modern high-performance fighters. Given these limitations against the air threat, Invincible would need heavy screening by escort units. These ships cost about $310 million in US terms.

The Kiev is currently the largest Soviet ship in service. It is (by Western eyes) an unusual mix: the front-end is all cruiser, with SAMs and SSMs, while the back-end is all flight deck. It can launch both helicopters and the VTOL Yak-38 Forger aircraft. Kiev's primary mission is ASW. As such, it would serve as the centerpiece of an ASW task group and not only hunt enemy subs, but also protect its own submarines in home waters. While this ship could easily defend itself, it is a valuable resource and would normally be heavily escorted. The Kiev's unique combination of point defense weapons and offensive missiles and aircraft demonstrates the difference in design philosophies between the US and USSR in terms of the aircraft carrier. There is, in fact, no equivalent US vessel. The British Invincible and the Italian Garibaldi have a similar capability. The Kiev is a very expensive ship, costing perhaps $1 billion if built in the US.

The ultimate realization of the Soviet Rocket Cruiser concept, the Kirov, is the most powerfully armed surface warship in the world today. Capable of anti-air, anti-surface and anti-submarine warfare, it can serve as either a task force flagship or as the partner of a Kiev class carrier. Its armament includes hundreds of missiles, guns and mortars, and three helicopters. Costing up to $2 billion each, the Kirov is very expensive for the Soviets to build. The US Navy really has nothing that compares to the Kirov.

The Slava is the second most powerful ship in the Red Navy, second only to the Kirov Class. It would be used as the centerpiece of a large anti-surface group, or as a formidable escort to other ships which it would screen with its comprehensive AAW systems. Although the Slava's point defenses are extremely powerful, its ASW capability is minimal and it should be paired up with ASW escort vessels. There is not really a Western equivalent to the Slava because NATO uses its aircraft to carry out most anti-surface attacks. In terms of AAW capabilities, the closet NATO vessel would be an Aegis ship such as the Ticonderoga. If built in the US, the Slavas would probably cost about $750 million."
