The debris of a Peruvian MIG-29 fighter jet lies in a field after it crashed on March 13, 2001, near a military airport in northern Peru during a test flight. The crash took place during a test to determine if the plane was obsolete and purchased as part of a corruption scheme, the Peruvian air force said. The pilot ejected safely. (Reuters)
