Статья длинная, много имён и картинок, тезисы -

1. Небольшая группа "олигархов" решила "защитить демократию" от коммунизма, с этой целью была создана тайная "Лига Американской Свободы". (см. цитату ниже - будто бы есть свидетельства, что предок Дж. Буша, Прескотт Буш тоже состоял в Лиге)

2. Попытка сформировать отряды из обиженных задержкой пенсии ветеранов ПМВ, в кол-ве до полумиллиона

3. Италия и пр-во Муссолини должно было послужить образцом. Gerald MacGuire, состоявший в Лиге, активно изучал про-фашистские ветеранские организации в Италии, он же предложил Батлеру сместить пр-во США.

4. После некоторого размышления (осенью 1934-го), генерал Smedley Butler , которому заговорщики предлагали сместить пр-во, вместо этого "сдал" заговор прессе.

5. Никто из заговорщиков не был подвергнут суду, хотя было проведено расследование (см. цитату ниже)

"In the last few weeks of the Committee's official life it received evidence showing that certain persons had made an attempt to establish a fascist organization in this country…. There is no question but that these attempts were discussed, were planned, and might have been placed in execution when and if the financial backers deemed it expedient.

"This committee received evidence from Major General Smedley D. Butler (retired), twice decorated by the Congress of the United States. He testified before the Committee as to conversations with one Gerald C. MacGuire in which the latter is alleged to have suggested the formation of a fascist army under the leadership of General Butler.

"MacGuire denied these allegations under oath, but your Committee was able to verify all the pertinent statements made by General Butler, with the exception of the direct statement suggesting the creation of the organization. This, however, was corroborated in the correspondence of MacGuire with his principal, Robert Sterling Clark, of New York City, while MacGuire was abroad studying the various forms of veterans' organizations of fascist character."

MакГвайр был никем. Это все равно что я предложу Иванову сделать переворот...

И на базе этого устроем обсуждения насчет американской поддержки переворота в России.

Или вы полагаете, что никакой Лиги не было и никто МакГвайра никуда не посылал, он всё сам придумал, денег у него не было и т.п.?

А как же вот этот пассаж Комитета?

На чём основано ваше утверждение о том, что МакГвайр - авантюрист-одиночка?

Алоизыч, равно как и Муссолини - тоже авантюристы.

Серия статей Спивака - в них сравнение полного отчёта Комитета по Антиамериканской деятельности с опубликованной версией. По ошибке Спиваку отправили копию отчёта без цензуры - в основном цензура вымарывала всякие упоминания имён "олигархов". Кроме того, Спивак приводит список денежных сумм ,полученных МакГвайером от членов пресловутой Лиги. Наверное, он это придумал для пущей правдоподобности, ага?

ВНу и тогда можно всё списать на жёлтую прессу и объявить заговор выдумкой. Собственно, МакГвайера с тем и отпустили - мол, пошутил, эти все разговоры были понарошку.

Schlesinger, p 85; Wolfe, Part IV: "But James E. Van Zandt, national commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and subsequently a Republican congressman, corroborated Butler's story and said that he, too, had been approached by "agents of Wall Street." "Zandt had been called immediately after the August 22 meeting with MacGuire by Butler and warned that...he was going to be approached by the coup plotters for his support at an upcoming VFW convention. He said that, just as Butler had warned, he had been approached "by agents of Wall Street" who tried to enlist him in their plot." (November 23 1934)
