Морская пехота не часть флота, а отдельный род войск. Она по обеим гражданской и военной иерархиям стоит наравне с флотом. В гражданской вметсе с ВМФ находится в ведении министерства флота, а по военной в КНШ у морпехов свой представитель наравне с остальными родами войск.
