Aerospatiale Matra Missiles (now NMBD, part of EADS) proposed a passive radar-guided variant of the ASMP nuclear warhead air-to-surface missile in 1993, for use as an air-to-air missile against airborne command and control, AEW and jamming aircraft. This missile, designated ASMP-R, would carry an HE warhead of about 200 kg weight to a range of 250 km. It is not known if this project continued, but an unconfirmed report suggested that a small number of ASMP could be converted if required.
