The engineers at Picatinny Arsenal in New Jersey used the Vasilek 2B9 82mm automatic mortar: the largest calibre mortar that can fit on the Humvee and not cause problems with mobility or recoil, army officials said.
"The vehicle's mass acts as a significant constraint," Anthony Franchino, the head of the team of engineers who designed the system, said in a statement. "Mounting anything larger than a medium-calibre direct-fire gun would exceed the limits of the HMMWV."
The system, dubbed Scorpion, could be used in difficult terrain like Afghanistan or to protect convoys or airstrips, said an army spokesperson.
... они там считают. Все-таки пишется, что оно "not cause problems with mobility or recoil" (с) Т.е., как я понимаю, не ограничивается мобильность машины и она от отдачи не трещит... А вот насчет стабильности оной при ведении огня (а в особенности автоматического) ни слова.
