История авиаборьбы КНР - США у Хайнаня

Приветствие всем!

>В обсчeм, aмeрикaнцы ужe просили китaйцeв нe подлeтaть близко eщe в дeкaбрe...

...Going over the detail records of these unlawful invasions, most of them occurred in Southern China, and over the Taiwan Straits. 1960 was the peak year, with over 41 such unlawful invasions, at almost twice a month. In June there were 7 such incidents.

Facing such uninvited provocation, Communist China did occasionally try to strike back with its limited air force. On March 25, 1965, an air squadron attached to the PLA Navy shot down an unmanned surveillance plane over the city of Wanning on Hainan Island. The same year, over Hainan air space, there was another dramatic episode. Eight F-4B participated in the invasion. Chinese planes took off to engage. Americans fired Sparrow IIIs, but in the confusion, the “friendly fire” shot down one of the F-4Bs. The same day China issued the 374th serious warning. The lucky Chinese squadron leader, Da-Yun Lee, got credited with the kill, and eventually rose to a high position in China’s South Sea Navy Air Corp. headquarters.

The most widely known U.S. invasion into China’s air space were the two air battles in 1965 and 1967. Each time at least one U.S. warplane was shot down, and the pilots ejected, and both were captured in the hills of Hainan Island by the local Chinese militia. The names of the pilots were reported as Phillip Smith, and Robert Phelan. Both were released by China on March 15, 1973, after the historic visit of China by President Nixon. Smith returned to service in the USAF, and had since returned to visit the part of Hainan where he was captured..

It was not reported as to how many PLA planes got killed. >>>

Так что это не первые пилоты, плененные китайцами на острове Хайнань!

С уважением,
Р.
